OTEYZA, SPANISH SAVOIR-FAIRE

English / Español

Save The Date! Next 15th of January, menswear fashion brand OTEYZA will showcase their Spanish savoir-faire presenting their collection Lumières during the menswear fashion shows at Paris Fashion Week invited by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode. For this reason, Madrid Capital de Moda; a program organized by Madrid City Hall to promote Madrid as a fashion destination, has named Oteyza’s design duo, Paul García de Oteyza, and Caterina Pañeda, global ambassadors of Madrid Capital de Moda.

OTEYZA was founded in 2012 by designing duo Paul García de Oteyza and Caterina Pañedo with the aim of creating contemporary, bespoke menswear fashion inspired by Spanish historical, classic menswear attire. Their tailor atelier in central Madrid blends classic tailoring activities as well as being a creative lab in evolution. From here, the menswear designers create three lines of fashion for men. Bespoke artisan tailoring, made to measure and the prêt-à-porter seasonal collections. Furthermore, OTEYZA actively promotes a sustainable slow fashion ideology by recuperating for the fashion world the exquisite and sustainable Merino wool, obtained from the autochthonous Spanish sheep breed Merino, of which they also act as global ambassadors.

The official presentation of the new ambassadors of Madrid Capital de Moda took place in Madrid City Hall last January 8th, where the Deputy Mayor of Madrid, Begoña Villacis and the Executive Director of ACME, Pepa Bueno, presented the fashion PR project underlining that it is the first time Madrid Capital de Moda enjoys a global ambassador while stressing the importance of the fashion association and the City of Madrid of working together to generate buzz, activities, and events that promote Madrid as a unique shopping experience destiny, which by the way, it is.

Madrid holds many secret sartorial addresses and unique madrileño shopping experiences to be discovered and enjoyed. Designer studios or ateliers offer the occasional tourist not only a unique experience but also a stylish and trendy fashion product with the designers’ creative signature. The fashion designer’s ideology is far away from mainstream high-street brands. Designers’ garments are 100% traceable and designer fashion products are made locally, with local materials. Designer fashion is also encased within the slow fashion movement of creating clothes, garments, and fashion made to last, to be enjoyed more than once.  OTEYZA`s tailor shop, in trendy 28004 district in Calle Conde de Xiquena, is but one example of the unique, and sustainable local fashion and shopping experience one can enjoy in Madrid.

One of Spain’s most promising fashion brands. OTEYZA has also earned many global acknowledgments and awards. Their presentation in the prestigious menswear fair in Florence, Italy, PITTI UOMO six seasons ago caused fashion waves, and their fashion show ROOTS with the National Spanish Ballet one of the most viewed fashion show on Facebook.

It’s not about shape it’s about the life within the shape, its process. We work both space and form in a disjunction of passive and active lines that converge and diverge creating new codes of elegance.

We are setting a new itinerary for the Spanish sartorial suit from the renewal of regional attire to the exaltation of the avant-garde, making boldness our virtue and simplicity as well as sophistication our indefinable seal.
